1/4" Reel to Reel / Transfer to CD
We can transfer both homemade and studio quality reels for only $45 for the first hour and $25 for each additional hour of total playing time, with a one hour minimum per reel. Reel to reel audio is recorded at many different speeds. The most common speeds for home use were:1⅞ IPS (Inches Per Second), 3¾ IPS, and 7½ IPS. We recently acquired a reel to reel machine that will play Studio Quality reels. These usually run at 15 IPS or 30 IPS.
While we can start recording at the speed which sounds most natural, if the speed changes mid-reel, some parts may sound distorted and slow, while others may sound way too fast (the "chipmunk effect").
We offer optional post-recording editing to fix these speed changes if they occur in your reels. The price is $30 per half hour of editing time.
To cut audio into separate tracks on CD add $10.
Audio Restoration
We also offer post-recording audio restoration on the media you have transferred. Among them are noise, click, pop and scratch reduction/removal, normalization, equalization, and track splicing (creating one good copy from two bad ones). This service is offered at $30 per half hour of editing time.
